The Physics of Failure
Why risk a $20,000 engine build on 1990s roller technology? As horsepower increases, the physical limitations of roller dynos become dangerous variables. We don’t just “strap it down”- we mechanically couple the vehicle to the load cell.
Traditional Roller Dyno
The “Roller” Problem
Tire Slip & Hysteresis
On rollers, power is transferred via friction. As power exceeds 500HP, tires deform and slip. This creates false readings and generates immense heat, often destroying expensive track tires in a single session.
Strap Elasticity
Nylon straps stretch under load. As the car tries to climb the roller, the geometry changes, altering the downforce and creating inconsistent load readings between runs.
Catastrophic Failure Risk
A blown tire on a roller dyno at 250km/h is catastrophic. It damages the vehicle bodywork, the dyno, and endangers the operator.
The ProHub Solution
Mainline ProHub 2000
Mechanical Lock (Zero Slip)
By removing the wheels and bolting directly to the axle hubs, we create a 1:1 mechanical link between your engine and our retarders. The data is pure. The traction is infinite.
Steady-State Precision
Without the variable of tire friction, we can hold an engine at exactly 4,500 RPM at 20psi of boost for extended periods to dial in ignition timing and V.E. maps with surgical precision.
Absolute Safety
No straps to break. No tires to explode. The vehicle is rigidly mounted to the 3000kg dyno modules. This is the only safe way to tune 1000HP+ vehicles.

The 7-STAGE CALIBRATION PROTOCOL
We don’t just “flash and dash.” Every vehicle undergoes a rigorous engineering workflow to ensure reliability matches performance.
Stage 1: Mechanical Pre-Check
We audit the physical health of the engine before a laptop is ever connected.
- Visual Fluid Leak Inspection
- Vacuum Line Integrity Check
- Turbocharger Shaft Play Analysis
- Compression Test (if requested)
Stage 2: Pressure Testing
Ensuring the induction system is sealed is critical for MAF/MAP accuracy.
- Boost Leak Test (up to 30psi)
- Intercooler Coupler Torque Check
- Blow-Off Valve Spring Rate Check
- Wastegate Diaphragm Integrity
Stage 3: Sensor Calibration
Garbage data in equals garbage tune out. We verify all sensors.
- Wideband O2 Free-Air Calibration
- TPS (Throttle Position) Scaling
- MAP Sensor Linearisation
- Base Timing Sync (Timing Light)
Stage 4: Steady State Tuning
The most important part of the tune. Drivability and cruise efficiency.
- Cell-by-Cell VE Mapping
- Cruise Ignition Advance
- Lean-Burn Optimisation (Fuel Econ)
- Transient Throttle Enrichment
Stage 5: WOT Power Runs
Dialing in boost control and finding MBT (Minimum Best Torque) timing.
- Knock Threshold Determination
- EGT (Exhaust Temp) Monitoring
- Boost Control Duty Cycle PID
- Cam Angle Phasing (VTEC/MIVEC)
Stage 6: Engine Protection
Configuring the ECU to save the engine if a mechanical failure occurs.
- Lean AFR Safety Cut
- Oil Pressure vs RPM Limiter
- Coolant Temp RPM Limiters
- Over-Boost Hard Cut
Stage 7: Cold Start & Handover
Ensuring the car starts in winter and behaves in traffic.
- Post-Start Enrichment Decay

1. Why Is the Mainline ProHub Safer than a Roller Dyno?
Roller dynos rely on the friction between the tire and a steel drum. At high power, the tire deforms, heats up, and slips. This creates inaccurate data and poses a safety risk of tire explosion. The ProHub bolts directly to your axle, eliminating the tire entirely. It is mechanically locked, providing 100% data integrity and zero risk of the car coming off the dyno.
2. Can You Tune AWD Cars (Evo/GTR) on a 2WD Hub Dyno?
Yes. For vehicles like the GTR (R35) or Evo, we can electronically or mechanically disconnect the secondary drive axle to tune in
2WD mode. This allows us to load the engine fully without needing a 4WD link system. For specific center-diff sensitive
vehicles, please call us to discuss the setup procedure.
3. What Is Flex Fuel and Is It Worth It?
Flex Fuel is essential for high-performance street cars. It allows you to run any mixture of 98RON Petrol and E85 Ethanol. We
install a sensor that detects the ethanol content in real-time. The ECU then interpolates between two maps (Fuel, Ignition,
Boost) automatically. This gives you the power of E85 when available, and the convenience of 98RON when you’re stuck in
traffic.
4. Do I Need A Surge Tank For Track Work?
If you are cornering at high G-forces with less than a full tank, yes. Fuel starvation causes lean conditions which destroy engines
instantly. We recommend and install radium surge tanks or dual-pump hangers for any vehicle intended for circuit use.
5. What Spark Plugs Should I Bring?
Do not arrive with old plugs. For most turbo applications running 15-25psi, we recommend NGK Iridium plugs gapped to
0.6mm – 0.7mm. Heat range 7 or 8 (NGK Scale) is typical for street/strip cars. Please contact us for a specific part number
recommendation for your engine.
6. Do You Lock Your Tunes?
We generally believe the customer owns the file. For standalone ECUs (Haltech, Emtron), we provide the unlocked file.
However, for Flash tunes (Hondata, EcuTek) where intellectual property involves complex custom mapping of factory code, the
file is often locked to the interface. We are transparent about this before we start.
